Bishop James M. Miller, Jr. is the Founder, Overseer, and Senior Pastor of the Anointed Fellowship Praise Churches, Inc. and has been pastoring for over forty-three years. He is a native of Cumberland, Virginia and the eldest of ten siblings. He resides with his wife, First Lady; Ernell O. Miller.

At the age of seventeen, his mother gave him sixty cents, put him on a Greyhound bus, and sent him to Richmond, Virginia to work with his eldest cousin. Bishop Miller’s spiritual journey began soon after graduation from high school. While on his job in Richmond, Virginia, Bishop Melvin Williams, Sr., ministered the Word of God to Brother Miller and as a result, he was baptized in Jesus’ Name and soon after, received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. In the year of 1974, at the age of 22, Brother Miller accepted the divine call of God and since that day has dedicated his life to the Ministry. In the year of 1976, Brother Miller was ordained to the Office of Elder. During that same year, he became Pastor and Founder of the Apostolic Holiness Church on route 60 in Cumberland, Virginia. In the year of 1981, the ministry expanded and God blessed the congregation with a new church building at 3816 Cumberland Road in Cumberland, Virginia 23040. A few years later, in 1986, Elder Miller opened the doors to a second location on Grayland Avenue in Richmond, Virginia.

In the year of 1989, the Lord led Elder Miller on an international mission. God used him to visit and minister the Word of God in Panama City, Panama, where members were stationed in the U. S. Armed Forces. As a result, souls were saved and Elder Miller became overseer of two churches there. He has conducted several Bread and Rice Ministries, visited orphanages, performed street ministries, and TV interviews in Panama.

On November 23, 1997, Elder Miller was consecrated to the Office of Bishop by the Honorable Bishop Rufus Hayes. In the year of 2002, our Richmond location was closed due to a commercial development, but through it all, Pastor Miller encouraged the members to fast, pray, and have faith that God would bless us with another location. Effective, July 2, 2008, our church name became Anointed Fellowship Praise Church. On August 18, 2008, God answered our prayers, gave us favor and blessed us to purchase our current building and main sanctuary, at 5000 Probst Street in Henrico, Virginia 23231.

In addition to working in the ministry abroad, Bishop Miller has labored extensively in the United States. He has conducted men’s ministry classes, retreats, revivals, street and prison ministries, fed the homeless, visited and prayed for the sick, and worked with at-risk kids. He is also the author of two inspirational booklets , “How To Receive From God,” and “Holding Fast As You Weather Life’s Storms.”

Over the course of several years, the gospel was also spread through broadcasting. Thousands of lives have been touched through our radio ministry, which had been aired in various states, including Virginia. Bishop Miller exhibits persistence, perseverance, and a great passion for the souls of people.

With God’s guidance, he is determined to teach and preach the uncompromised gospel of Jesus Christ and to reach lost souls.

God has also blessed Bishop Miller to fulfill his career goals by becoming a notable leader, businessman, and a successful entrepreneur. He has earned an Associate Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree, and a Master’s Degree in the field of Counseling and Criminal Justice. He has offered a vast amount of knowledge and wisdom by sharing his spiritual and natural accomplishments. He gives God the glory, honor, and praises for his many blessings and all that he has accomplished.

Bishop Miller strongly encourages many with these words: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
